CARTER RECEIVES ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AWARD
Pratt Industries recognizes company for commitment to using recycled cardboard for shipping
RICHMOND, VA – Fall, 2024. Pratt Industries, America’s leading recycled paper and packaging company, presented Carter Machinery with their Environmental Impact Award, recognizing the company’s commitment to helping protect and improve the environment by using 100% recycled cardboard shipping boxes.
In a ceremony at Carter’s Richmond location, Pratt Account Manager Kevin Gorby and Pratt Sales Manager Jim Wallace presented the award to Kevin Hickman, Carter Machinery’s Procurement Manager.
“Pratt Industries is proud to recognize Carter Machinery for pursuing sustainable solutions and reducing the environmental impact of their packaging,” Gorby said. “By using Pratt’s packaging made from 100% recycled paper, Carter Machinery is contributing to environmental savings of natural resources as well as helping to divert waste from landfills and reducing CO2 emissions.”
The list of direct, measurable environmental benefits from Carter choosing recycled packaging for all its parts shipping boxes as well as for its government-related business between October, 2019, and August, 2024, includes saving 3,655 trees, 1.5 million gallons of water, and 860,000 kilowatt hours of power, preventing the release of 215 tons of CO2, and diverting 710 cubic yards of waste from landfills.
“When it comes to recycling, every little bit helps,” Hickman said. “I had no idea what kind of environmental impact Carter would have when we awarded our business to Pratt in 2019. Pratt Industries is investing $5 billion in recycling and clean energy infrastructure to create many new manufacturing jobs for Americans. I’m pleased Carter Machinery is also adopting new business strategies that are eco-friendly. It may not seem like much, at first, but something as simple as choosing where you get your boxes can make a huge difference in our world and I’m proud to be a small part of that.”
