Diamond Anniversary
Alpine Construction marks 60 years in business and invites Carter Machinery to the celebration
MIDLOTHIAN, VA – Summer, 2024. Long-time Carter customer Alpine Construction – a turnkey site development company for residential and commercial site development and infrastructure – celebrated their 60th anniversary and invited Carter Account Manager Jim Buchanan, Product Support Manager Lucas Stiltner, and Field Service Technician Chris Brown to the festivities at Alpine’s Midlothian, VA, headquarters.
As part of the celebration, Buchanan presented company founders Mary Penn Hawthorne and Hugh Hawthorne with a plaque featuring a Cat® D11 diecast to commemorate the occasion. Today, the Hawthorne’s son, Scot, and his wife, Chris, run the company with their children, Kristin and Tyler, representing the second and third generations involved in the business.
“Alpine is highly thought of in the industry and I’m proud to say I get the opportunity to work with them on behalf of Carter,” Buchanan said. “Hugh started the company in 1964 and bought Cat machines at that time, beginning in the early days with our predecessor, Virginia Tractor Company, and they have worked with Carter Machinery ever since. The celebration was attended by a lot of the ‘movers and shakers’ in Richmond’s contractor community who Alpine has deep relationships with, many of whom are also Carter customers.”
