A History of Success
Long-time customer’s dozers – and relationship with Carter – span five decades
ASHLAND, VA – Summer, 2024. Jack Stanley founded Stanley Construction in 1956 in Ashland, Va., and was responsible for purchasing the Cat® D6 dozer pictured here in 1971 from Virginia Tractor Company – Carter Machinery’s predecessor. More than 50 years later, Stanley Construction remains an important Carter customer. Today, Jack’s son, Calvin Stanley, is the company’s CEO and purchased this new D5 seen alongside the restored D6 at Stanley’s headquarters. Carter and Stanley team members worked together several years ago to restore the D6 to its like-new appearance.
“Stanley Construction is very proud of their history, and particularly the fact that five generations of Stanleys have worked there,” explains Glenn Mitchell, an Account Manager with Carter Machinery. “Longevity is a testament to their devotion, strength, and ability, and I’m proud to say that I’ve called on them as a customer since 1988.”
